Book Synopsis: This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded.
The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than a speck at the edge of the universe. Now with enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to evacuate with a hostile warship in hot pursuit.
But their problems are just getting started. A plague has broken out and is mutating with terrifying results; the fleet’s AI may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a web of data to find the truth, it’s clear the only person who can help her is the ex-boyfriend she swore she’d never speak to again.
Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents—including emails, maps, files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more—Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes.

My Rating for this novel out of 5 stars; ★★★★
I picked up this book at my local target. I had seen it every time I was at target and would admire the cover. When I picked up this book and flipped through the pages I was intrigued by the format of this book The story is told in exclusive documents with include emails, interview, medical reports, etc. When I first picked this book up I was concerned that it was going to be hard to follow and get into with it being told in files (Interviews, etc). Thank goodness it was not hard to understand.
My favorite character in this book is Kady who is a young fearless women. She was in a relationship with Ezra who at the begging of the novel had broken up. (It was very cool to be able to read their conversations in email form). When their planet is attacked Kady and Ezra are on separate planets. When this happens Kady is trying to figure out who attacked their planet and why. To figure out who did this Kady starts hacking into files and reports. It was really cool to see the files because it felt like you were really reading a secretive document.
This book was a little slow at first but towards the middle it picked up and became very hard to put down. I know this is a short review but hey they shorter the better. I can not wait to read the second book in this series.
