Book Review: Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon

Book Cover :Amazon
Book Synopsis: Amazon

Title:Everything Everything
Author:Nicola Yoon
Format: Hardcover
Release Date:September 1rst, 2015
Publisher: Delacorte Press
My Rating (out of 5 stars): ★★★★★
Book Synopsis:Risk everything . . . for love.

What if you couldn’t touch anything in the outside world? Never breathe in the fresh air, feel the sun warm your face . . . or kiss the boy next door? In Everything, Everything, Maddy is a girl who’s literally allergic to the outside world, and Olly is the boy who moves in next door . . . and becomes the greatest risk she’s ever taken.

My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He's tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

Everything, Everything will make you laugh, cry, and feel everything in between. It's an innovative,  inspiring, and heartbreakingly romantic debut novel that unfolds via vignettes, diary entries, illustrations, and more.

I have passed reading this book for a while because I felt like it was similar to that movie Bubble Boy with John Travolta (I believe that is what it is called). I saw it everywhere I went like, Barns & Noble, and Target. I went to see Beauty and the Beast this past Sunday and one of the trailer previews was for this book Everything Everything. The trailer was fantastic! After the movie I went to target to pick up this book. Once I got home I started reading it and finished it that night.

This book was fantastic. I loved how it was written. I especially loved the pictures and illustrations that were drawn throughout the book. I loved the relationship between Maddy and Olly. It shows how a person will do anything for love. Maddy was a teenage girl who had not been out side her entire life, but when the new boy next door Olly moves in she sees him through the window and immediately wants to get to know him. All of these characters in the book goes through ups and downs one quote in the book stood out to me. It was said my Carla, Maddy's nurse, she said "life is a gift, Don't forget to live it".

I was very shocked at the end of the book because I did not expect the story to go in that direction. If you have read the book you know what I mean.If you have not read it, I am not going to spoil it, therefore you will have to read it to know what I am talking about.

I am really excited to see if the movie is similar to the book.

My Rating for this novel out of 5 stars; ★★★★

I picked up this book at my local target. I had seen it every time I was at target and would admire the cover. When I picked up this book and flipped through the pages I was intrigued by the format of this book The story is told in exclusive documents with include emails, interview, medical reports, etc. When I first picked this book up I was concerned that it was going to be hard to follow and get into with it being told in files (Interviews, etc). Thank goodness it was not hard to understand.

My favorite character in this book is Kady who is a young fearless women. She was in a relationship with Ezra who at the begging of the novel had broken up. (It was very cool to be able to read their conversations in email form). When their planet is attacked Kady and Ezra are on separate planets. When this happens Kady is trying to figure out who attacked their planet and why. To figure out who did this Kady starts hacking into files and reports. It was really cool to see the files because it felt like you were really reading a secretive document.

This book was a little slow at first but towards the middle it picked up and became very hard to put down. I know this is a short review but hey they shorter the better. I can not wait to read the second book in this series.

Book Synopsis: For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape a rigid caste system, live in a palace, and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon. Then America meets Prince Maxon—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

*********************************************************************************
                                     ( Spoiler Free)

This book is a mix between the Hunger Games and The Bachelor. It was like the Hunger Games because each family was sectioned off into different caste systems based on the family income.  This book was such an easy read. I was sucked in during the first couple of pages. I know this book has been out a while but I am finally getting onto reading it and I don't know why I waited so long.

I immediately fell in love with the main character America Singer. She was such a hard headed young women who knew what she wanted. She was in a secretive relationship with Aspen a boy from her caste. Her parents did not know she was in a relationship with this young man, therefore, her mom kind of forced/persuaded her to enter into the selection. Aspen also wanted her to enter into the selection because he wanted her to not settle for him because he was not going to be able to give her the life she wanted and he thinks she deserves. She gives in and decides to enter into the selection because she thought she probably would never be nominated............but she was.

Then the selection starts America is now living at the palace with the price and the king and queen. The first night she was overwhelmed and homesick she just wanted to go to the palace garden to get some air. The guards wouldn't let her. In comes Prince Maxon who says to let the lady go. This starts the relationship that Prince Maxon and Lady America. Remember America is a stubborn young women so the first time they meet she practically yells at him. In the beginning America told the truth her Prince Maxon that she is only here because she was forced to and that she was in love with her old boyfriend.

As of now I don't know who I want her to be with. The relationship between her and the Prince is a fun friendly relationship and he told her that he would keep her their as long as he could because with her in the competition her family gets money to live on. I think this relationship could progress into something more. I liked her and her relationship with Aspen because it was her first love and he sacrificed his happiness to let America have a better life than he could provide for her.

I can't wait to start book 2 in this series.

Book Synopsis: James Patterson returns to the genre that made him famous with a thrilling teen detective series about the mysterious and magnificently wealthy Angel family . . . and the dark secrets they're keeping from one another.

Having grown up under Malcolm and Maud's intense perfectionist demands, no child comes away undamaged. Tandy decides that she will have to clear the family name, but digging deeper into her powerful parents' affairs is a dangerous-and revealing-game. Who knows what the Angels are truly capable of?

**********************************************************************************************************************************

When I was wondering around Barns & Noble I was looking for a mystery novel. I have been watching a lot of crime shows on Netflix the past 3 months and was in the mood to read a mystery. I saw this novel sitting on the shelf and that James Patterson wrote it. Now I have heard of James Patterson before (I mean come on who hasn't) but I have never read one of this books before. To be Honest I did not know he wrote young adult books.

This book was awesome! The very first chapter got me hooked and wanting to know what really had happend to Tandy's parents that night and who killed them. I I read it in less than 24 hours. it was very easy to read. The chapters were approximately 3-5 pages or less, which makes it very hard to put down because I would say to myself "just one more chapter its only 3 pages......etc".

I feel in love with the main character Tandy Angel in this novel. Tandy is the only girl in a family of 4 children. Her parents are very controlling and want her to be the best she can be. When her parents Malcolm and Maud are found dead in their apartment the police and the public believe it had to be Tandy or one of her brothers.  Her family was in the public eye because her father founded a pharmaceutical company and her brother Matthew was a NFL football player. Tandy decided that she was going to figure out who murdered her parents. She investigated each and everyone of her siblings because they all had a motive to murder her parents. Her parents were very stricked and controlling on all of them. A major story line in this book is this guy named James whom Tandy fell in love with. Throughout this book she couldn't remember anything about him. All she knew was that he disappeared and never heard from him again. Throughout the rest of this book the pieces of their relationship are slowing coming back to Tandy.

I cant wait to read the next book in this series.

Talking As Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham

Book Cover from Amazon
Book Synopsis from Amazon

Title: Talking As Fast As I Can
Author: Lauren Graham
Date Released: November 29th, 2016
You can but it here: Amazon
Book Synopsis: In Talking as Fast as I Can, Lauren Graham hits pause for a moment and looks back on her life, sharing laugh-out-loud stories about growing up, starting out as an actress, and, years later, sitting in her trailer on the Parenthood set and asking herself, “Did you, um, make it?” She opens up about the challenges of being single in Hollywood (“Strangers were worried about me; that’s how long I was single!”), the time she was asked to audition her butt for a role, and her experience being a judge on Project Runway (“It’s like I had a fashion-induced blackout”).

In “What It Was Like, Part One,” Graham sits down for an epic Gilmore Girls marathon and reflects on being cast as the fast-talking Lorelai Gilmore. The essay “What It Was Like, Part Two” reveals how it felt to pick up the role again nine years later, and what doing so has meant to her.

Some more things you will learn about Lauren: She once tried to go vegan just to bond with Ellen DeGeneres, she’s aware that meeting guys at awards shows has its pitfalls (“If you’re meeting someone for the first time after three hours of hair, makeup, and styling, you’ve already set the bar too high”), and she’s a card-carrying REI shopper (“My bungee cords now earn points!”).

Including photos and excerpts from the diary Graham kept during the filming of the recent Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, this book is like a cozy night in, catching up with your best friend, laughing and swapping stories, and—of course—talking as fast as you can.
**********************************************************************************************************************************
This is going to be a short review of her book.

First off, I absolutely love Lauren Graham. She is one of my favorite actresses. I started watching Gilmore Girls when it first aired in 2000. Since then I have probably seen each episode more than 10 times (Thank you Netflix). After I finished Gilmore Girls I decided to binge watch Parenthood on Netflix. (only because Lauren Graham was in it) For me Lauren Graham's character Sarah resembled Lorelei Gilmore which is one of the reasons I loved it the show. When I saw that Netflix was bringing it back for a four part TV movie I couldn't wait. Sadly that weekend after Thanksgiving I had a really bad stomach ache, but on the bright side I had all weekend to watch the Gilmore Girls: A Year in The Life.

When I saw Lauren Graham was writing a book about her life, my thoughts were it was only gonna be about her career on Gilmore Girls and Parenthood. I was wrong. It wasn't that I didn't like the book, I did. I just expected again it not to be about her early personal life and career. I wish she would have talked about her experience on Parenthood more than she did, as well as more experiences she had on the set of Gilmore Girls.

I really enjoyed how she put her diary entries from the set of Gilmore Girls A Year in the Life. It felt like you experienced what Lauren experienced while being on the set. I also loved seeing her pictures with her cast mates. It goes to show that when you play a family on a TV show you become a family in real life as well.
